Night at Central @ 050307

Training ended at about 5 pm daily. After 5 pm, we would loiter somewhere instead of head back straight to hotel. Grin. Understandable right?

2nd day in HK, we headed to Central. Hopping on the same bus (M49 or M49P) with the same fare of HKD 10 would bring us passed Sheung Wan straight to Central. Actually I didnt really know where to get down from the bus, but then Central should be obvious.. no?

Haha.. anyway, I found out that it is not hard to recognize. See the ferry pier, opposite it is the huge IFC, you know you have reached Central. 2nd day there was indeed cooler than day 1 where we were happily strolling and had the thought of "shouldn't have bring the jacket along".

Walking towards IFC from the Central pier, crossing this bridge...

Anyway, we met up with a senior in uni who is doing his PHd in HK Uni (smart eh). My senior and my colleague's coursemate. Anyway, while waiting for him, we just loiter around Central. By the way... it was raining.

We were in one of the buildings in Central. In the maze of the buildings, they are actually linking to each other. One can walk between buildings and not get wet :P

Side note: I like Central. If you want food, there is good food. If you expensive stuff, there's rows and rows of branded stuff. If you want buildings, the buildings are great ;)

Training at Cyberport

The main reason I was at HK was this training. This 5 days training was held in Cyberport. As the name suggested, sort of like IT hub. Likewise our Cyberjaya, the company which trained us had their IT stationed there, as well as their training academy.

I have not been to Cyberjaya but was told, ahem... Cyberport more advanced than Cyberjaya lor.

This is the outside of the building where we had our training. It is basically a mall but attaching to it, a IT hub/business centre.

Going in, would passed through a passage looking out to scenaries of Cyberport, overlooking Lamma Island (I was told, but getting there would need to take ferry from Central, unless of course, you chartered your own ferry/ship)

Anyway, to reach to the lifts, one would passed by teleconferencing rooms, flat screen TVs...

Looking out from the glass panels, one would notice of high rise building, trees...

Side note: *phew* Exams finished. Had a fulfilling dinner at Dontaku :P

Night at Causeway Bay @ 040307

I kind of like writing about the trip that I went... it's nice to read about it when a few years down the road, or just a couple of months later.

Anyway, I'm grateful for given an opportunity to visit HK again, and the best part is... I'm on a fully sponsored trip, but of course not on the days I opted to extend, also I get to learn :)
Boss was generous to recommend me for a 5 days training to HK and I grabbed the opportunity to cover the places that I missed the last time.

Day 1 in HK:
Took the 9++ am flight from KLIA, touched down in HK at about 1-2 pm. Took the hotel bus shuttle (cost HK$ 130 per pax) and reached hotel at about 4 pm. Training was not scheduled till the next day, so another colleague of mine & me went out scouting the bus stop. Had to get a bus to Cyberport for training the next day... better be a bit more kiasu than late right.

Thereafter, saw the famous green-colour tram with the sign "Causeway Bay". Oh well.. we just jumped on it and off to Causeway Bay. Erm.. we didnt even check the which stop we were at before boarding it. :P

Sunday at Causeway Bay was FULLY packed. As I was walking down a road, I saw the sign the reads, "Luruskan rambut - $xxx". It took me a while to register that I was not in KL. Wow... there is actually BM in HK. But well... a few minutes later, I'm not surprise anymore. Causeway Bay on Sunday was packed with Indonesians!!

See for yourself! I took the picture from an overhead bridge in Causeway Bay. It was like a mass picnic. Read from somewhere that Causeway Bay was suppose to be like Orchard in Singapore or Bintang in KL. Really??

Well... hold that thought, it really was, if I were to go another part in Causeway Bay.

Stretches and stretches of branded shops. Ah.. and the temperature is just fine. Walking without jacket and no sweat!

However these shops are just too expensive for us, for me at least. So we decided to take off and went off to Wan Chai, just to see the Lockhart Road where it house bars, pubs, etc.

Thought I might be able to drop by Tai Yuen Street in Wan Chai for a while, might be able to grab some toys for my nieces. But well... we were just a little too late. Many of the shops were already closed, if not shutting.

After walking a bit in Wan Chai, we decided to call it a day and back to hotel for a rest. After all, had to wake up early to take a 30-45 mins bus from Sheung Wan to Cyberport.

Side note: I better get back to my studies, exam due on Monday... :P

Oh well.. it's fate

Last year when I went to HK, I lamented on the not-so-good weather. Last week when I get to go HK again, I was grateful for last year's view. You know why...?

Tagged again!

I'm not doing this purposely - to have posts back to back on being tagged.
Oh well.. I actually have another blog where I prefer to blog there if need to puts up pictures, bigger space.. sort of. So, if I MIA for a little too long, I might be blogging over there where it initially started off together with another friend... but he MIA longer than me. Hmm...

Ok, back to the tagged thingy. I got tagged by Calv

Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose five people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks

  1. One of my dreams is to watch Manchester United at Old Trafford
  2. I'm rather disturbed with the fact that I dont have a dream that if I achieved, I will be blissfully happy
  3. I like to sit under the table when I'm sad... like inside a cocoon
  4. When I hold a cup/glass, my last finger somehow would be pointed out
  5. I'm right handed, but I place my glass/cup/soup on my left side and I hold my cup/glass with my left hand when I'm eating
  6. I actually own a 3rd blog where only about 10 people know the existent of it and the url. The actual number of people who reads it is probably only 2.
  7. "Life is like topography, Hobbes. There are summits of happiness and success... flat stretches of boring routine. And valleys of frustration and failure" Quoted from Calvin, The Indispensable Calvin & Hobbes is one of my favourite quotes.
  8. I've learned... that the below sentence is true
"I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back"
  9. There is "season" for my eating habits. Eg: There would be a time that I would want to eat chocolates, but after that period of time, give me bars and bars of choc, I'll just leave it in the fridge.
  10. My mini compo is set to 60 minutes sleep mode every night before I sleep.

Well.. I tag

  1. Super Chu Chai
  2. Little P (oo)
  3. Wilda
  4. Kimmie

I'm dreaming...

Don't really have the mood to write, probably havent been writing for a while... anyway, saw this "What Tarot Card are You?" at Kimmie's page and just for fun, went to try.

The outcome of it shows "You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project."
That word in red... that prompts me to blog. It's like a sign, telling me, go take your Ph.D or whatever.. anyway.. that's that...

You are the World

Completion, Good Reward.

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Chicken Nuggets

Went to this Mc* fast food chain the other day, the one in Bukit Bintang before my Japanese class to get a quick bite. As I had 2 slices of sandwiches already, thought of not having so much food and wanted to get the 4 pieces Chicken Nugget. However...

Me: Do you have the 4 piece Chicken Nugget?
Mc* Staff: Sudah habis. 6 ketul ada (translation: Finished, but have the 6 pieces one)
Me: O_O (in heart: what kind of logic is that... 4 pieces finished but still have the 6 pieces one??)

Anyway, I did not press on it, after all time to go to class already. But... it's illogical right?

2 moons on 27 August 2006

Ok.. I should've put this up earlier. Anyway, did you or did you not get this email, telling you at certain time on 27/8/06 you will see 2 moons? Of course, literally it's 2 moons, but one is actually the Mars.

Well, yah... there isn't any. Stupid me looked up the sky at various position from the apartment I stayed. There isn't any moon. (My sis secretly told me dont tell people, cos pai seh). So we re-enter the house, and check the calendar. Mmmm... 27/8/06 is actually the 4th on Chinese calender - which also means... you wont get any moon, let alone FULL MOON. So, nothing happenned... I went back to sleep. But, this reminds me of what happenned 2-3 years back.

I checked back the cert, there's no date printed on it. Yes, cert. Remember a few years back where it was said that the Mars is closest to Earth since 73,000 years? Well, that one is not a myth. I did went and see, and went for 3 times. Effort to see Mars :P

1st day: It was a drizzling night, the Planetarium has hosted a "watching" Mars thingy. Knowing very much that you can't even see stars on raining nights, but my sis and me still insisted on taking my poor bike out for a round, just in case can see the Mars (kiasu mah). Well, fact is a fact, not even stars but we gathered that the Astronomer's Club would set up their telescope the next day in the field opposite Amcorp Mall

2nd day: A fine night, no rain. Unfortunately, it was way too fine. KL sky are way too bright. Try looking up the sky if you are in KL, it usually appears reddish instead of black. So, though luck to see any stars in such bright sky. We lined up, waiting at the telescope, loitered around... still no Mars to be sighted.

3rd day: I dont remember as to why I didnt go to my elderest sis's house but my second sis did. Probably had to work. Anyway, 2nd sis saw Mars from elderest sis's house - its not KL, its at Sungai Long, outskirt of KL. Called me and asked me to go to Bukit Jalil. At that time, I was still staying in Setapak, take my bike again, all the way to Bukit Jalil, to look at that "little" planet. After all the effort, it has finally paid off. We saw Mars, and yes, that time was really Mars, even got a cert and it was said that it will be many, many, many years before we can see it in our sky again... so i guess, the email was a faux

The cert - a few years old

Crown Jewel Hotel, Penang - 4 star???

Well... that's what I heard, though I'm not quite sure the 4 star is on which part of the hotel. Personally, there are a few things as to why I dont quite agree.

  1. The floor carpet is dirty. There are red spots on the carpet
  2. The ONE additional electrical point is faulty. I had to pull off the light connection to boil water, to charger mobile phone charger
  3. 2 way pin cannot go in the electrical point. Hence I cant charge my camera battery which explains why I didnt take many of the hotel picture
  4. There is no kettle in the room. I called the reception, they told me to call room service. I called room service, I'm told to call housekeeping. Fine, maybe I did call the wrong extension but after waiting for 20-30 minutes, nobody come knocking at the door. I was hungry (no lunch), I went out of the room as coincidentally saw some housekeeping staff cleaning the few rooms down, I requested for a kettle. The staff casually open the door of a room & passed me the kettle inside.
  5. The electric point of the kettle is broken but usable. Well.. since can use.. still tolerable.
  6. The toilet is dirty. Can practically see that the toilet bowl is yellowish in colour. Tsk.. tsk..
  7. There is no hair dryer in the room. My sister rang housekeeping for a hair dryer. We are already lying in bed almost dozed off and her hair is almost dry and someone knocked the door, only then the hair dryer came.
  8. The basin is clogged up. If you have a weak stomach, then dont look at the basin right after someone brushed their teeth... leave it for say... at least 30 minutes.
  9. The coffee table is sticky and dirty. I had to clean it myself before dare to put anything on it.
  10. The menu in the restaurant indicated nett price but the staff informed us that we need to pay 10% service tax & 5% government tax. After we complained a few times... they didnt charge us.
  11. The ones more tolerable are - there is no remote control in the room (despite the apparently 4 star), the air con is not cold, one of the lamp in the room is faulty.

There you have it.. to sum it up, not recommended. By the way... its not cheap either oh...

Boys like Girls who are thin

True? Not true? Depends? (I think people like that answer... depends :p)
Anyway - I quote that phrase from Ino, Naruto Episode 192. I know, I know, the lastest episode of Naruto is at Episode 195, just that I'm a little backtracked, havent finished watching yet. In fact just finished watching Episode 192 a couple of minutes ago.

The story is somewhat like this...
Ino and Naruto was sent to a mission to another village where the princess has gained some weight before her date with a feudal lord's son (Chikara-sama). This princess (Princess Fuku) sent over her thin picture over to Chikara-sama before the big date day, and while waiting for the big day, she was a bit too nervous and indulged in too much food at night. Somehow she looked like Ino (before putting on the kilogrammes), hence wants Ino to be her double to capture Chikara-sama's heart.

To cut the story short, there's chaos cos this Chikara-sama himself is not exactly thin and of course, not Ino's cup of tea. Also coupling with Naruto's changing himself to look like Princess Fuku and do funny funny stuff. Story ended with Princess Fuku showed herself and Chikara-sama love the fatty version of her.

Of course, Ino was a little hurt. In that episode, she said, "My virgin soul is scarred" :P

So, back to it, "Boys likes Girls who are thin". Is it true? What say you?

Hanging out at Kuchai Lama

Last Friday, I went out to eat with Bay Bee Dino at Kuchai Lama. Bay Bee Dino likes those kedai kopi type of shop, so we went to try food in Old Town (something like that). She had nasi lemak and I already eaten company-provide-dinner, so I only ordered "pineapple bun". I remember it got some canggih name on the menu but I just can't remember what it is, but anyway its pineapple bun lar...

This is how it looks like, and between the top & bottom bun, there's a layer of butter. Yummy. Unfortunately, forgotten to take picture of the nasi lemak that Bay Bee Dino ate.

After that, we went to this shop, a few doors away. It is this newly opened stationery shop. I can hardly remember going to economical stationery shop in KL. Serious, you can get really affordable stationery there. Do check it out.

The Art of Going to Pasar Malam

The last couple of weeks, Little P brought me to pasar malam... and taught me the art of going to pasar malam.

1. Must leave work at 5.15 sharp, if not max must leave by 5.30 pm
2. Must go to pasar malam early to avoid the crowd
3. If drive, must park near the pasar malam but not too near so that easier to go off
4. If ride motorbike, must bring a pillion rider so that can buy more things
5. If die die cannot find someone to go, can only buy small small things so can bring home
6. When want to buy things, ask your friend to stand in front to hog a bit of space so that the probability of ordering is higher.

But anyway... no more pasar malam for the time being... got class every Tuesday for the next 2 months.

Last Tuesday at Sri Petaling Pasar Malam
Little P: That bay bee dino say sure got... how come we walk so many stalls dont have ar? Only got those with things dangling here and there
Nite: Dont know wor...

We walked and walked till finally spotted it at one of the stalls

Little P: Ei, buy 3 lar. One put in house, one put in office, one in case patah (break)
Nite: But its RM 3.50 wor, buy 3 more than RM 10 already.
Little P: Then buy 2. One put in house and one in case patah.
Nite: Ok ok.. but wont be so fragile gua...

Yesterday...
The weather was rather hot, thought I'll bun up my hair.
Nite: Aiyak... i broke it -__-"

Bay bee dino was having a good laugh and ask me to post it... so here are some pictures...

The broken off part. The one on the right, I've tried to "shaved" off the chipped off part

This is how the original one look like

This is the comparison between the one broken and the one not... See.. the part broken is thin.. not my fault :P

Vietnam Jackfruit Chips

Well... that colleague of ours who invited us over for lunch, had actually just went back to Vietnam last week... and he brought this back. It's sort of like snack, tid bits to be exact. However, it has all the original taste of jack fruit. Aside from jack fruit, there's also banana one but that one seems to be sticking to teeth. I quote from Day, "You eat one, you will have to spend 10 minutes trying to clean your teeth."

But this jack fruit one is good. So, if you do go to Vietnam, try looking for it. Guess it good to be brought back as souvenir, a lot of people can share the food ;)

Yummy

Lucky... one of our Vietnam colleagues invited us to have a vietnamese food lunch. The food is so good. Now I know why my colleague goes home everyday during lunch for his home-cooked lunch. Also he never orders the company food, cos he also got home-cooked dinner.

Lucky us... get to eat nice, Vietnamese food prepared by Vietnamese :)

Yummy... vietnamese food is good :)

Resuscitate

I was off blogging for a while... though not as long as the certain piggy who oinked at Piggy Tales, but anyway, I was on hiatus for a pretty long while.

Well, I guess the writing just take a step back together with the loss of internet connection. A friend commented that the condition was as if I had loss of both arms and both legs :P
So I guess if that was the case, I'm recovered... as streamyx is resuscitate. So in the meanwhile, me chasing the last 2 disc of Prince of Tennis which had keep me company through the "dark" 2 months... and busy keeping up with the loss episodes of Naruto and Bleach.

Able to watch anime and read manga is a bliss. :)
