I woke up at 7.30 am to...

WASH MY BIKE!!!

Believe it or not.. but i really did woke up at 7.30 am this very morning just to wash my bike. The last time I washed my bike was on 9/7/05, cos i blogged it up :P

Well... i have a choice of waiting for Piggy to come back and wash at her place again, but sad to say bikey is kind of really dirty, even more dirty than last time, i dont know why. Somehow some thing is nagging at me to wash it... so I set my alarm at 7.30 am today and wash it.

Why so early? Well, there's only one "public tap" at where I'm staying, and at about 9 am, there's this car washing service being provided. Hence, in order for me to wash my bike, I will have to do it either early morning or late late at night.

Well... there.. its now clean :) Let's now hope it last more than 6 months :P

It's not fair!!!

Valentine's Day is approaching and as i surf the net, I noticed some thing...

Have you ever realise that the gifts suggested to buy a guy is way more interesting than gift suggestions for girls?

I saw this in a popular search enginee front page:

Ideas for Her - Handbags, Jewelry, Fragrances
Ideas for Him - Cell Phones, MP3 Players, Digital Cameras

Dont you think its a little too bias? Why cant buy Her cell phones, MP3 Players, Digital Cameras? What makes people think that only He would like those cool gadgets?

What do you think?

Did anyone ask you these questions during CNY?

"Do you have BF yet?"

"Aiyo, still none ar? Why you so picky?"

"That guy not good meh?"

"I thought that guy is your BF? No ar?"

Ok, lets get this straight.

Point 1:
I'm the youngest in my generation at my mother's side and that i'm the 4th youngest in my generation at my father's side (I have 3 cousin brother younger than me, thats all.)

Point 2:
I didnt go back to my hometown this CNY. This also means that I didnt see most of my uncles, aunties, cousins. The only relative I visited was my youngest uncle cos he stays in Klang.

I listed down the 2 points cos I have valid reasons as to why I shouldnt be asked those questions. Ok see... i'm the basically sort of youngest in my generation which means that I have quite a few cousin brothers and sisters and coincidentally there are like 2 cousin brothers that havent found the other half yet and my sis havent tie the knot yet. So... shouldnt all my relatives gang up and generate their pressure over there...instead of asking me?

Also I thought that I would escape those questions... unfortunately, i think my mother foresee that her counterparts wont be around to give me those apparently friendly chat, so she go full force this year. Here are a few of the "pointers" my mom gave -_-"

"That so and so from your sister's company, next time go out eat with people lar."

"Next time, ask er jie to bring her so and so back. I wont come to stay, then so and so wont be pai seh."

"That guy not your BF ar?"

"That guy no GF or not? He not bad mah, can consider."

"If like that guy, then must take initiative. If gone liao, then no more."

Me? *Faint

(note: So and so and that guy is a different person)

CNY mystery

At this time every year...ok....at various time every year, we would celebrate Chinese New Year. Be it in the month of February, January, or something, the weather will remain the same. HOT HOT HOT!! And I can never understand why is that so? Can anyone explain this to me?

We just had this festival - "Pass over winter" or something...Koh Tong. And after winter should be spring rite? But why does it feels like summer here? Sigh...mother nature had gotten her compas all upside down. Or is it because we ARE upside down? Who knows?

Well...to all of you people out there! Have a great New Year! And stay off of the sun..while I go get myself a nice cold drink!

Most beautiful woman

They had just announced who is Malaysia's most beautiful woman.....If you want to know, go read the newspaper. I think they would had published her out first thing tomorrow morning. Got to say, at least the judges is honest. haha...

Makes me wonder - since they had already elected Malaysia's most beautiful woman where they say the lady is beautiful not only on the outside, but also on the inside. And if one would want to compare the winner with some of the ladies I know, I think she wouldn't have stood a chance. Anyhow...if the MOST beautiful woman have been crowned. I guess there wouldn't be another person would it?

:p Maybe I'm jealous. Don't play play, she won herself an apartment and a large amount of cash. Not to mention jewels that may earn her another large amount of dough. But enough of the green eye monster.

Question:- what makes a woman beautiful?

Stocking up for 'winter'

For the ever ever first time in my life...

I do not need rush to Puduraya and get a bus ticket to go home. The last time I remember, I had to take a bus to HKL bus station, walk to Titiwangsa LRT to Plaza Rakyat and get the shuttle bus to Duta Station. Its not that I didnt want to take cab but if you do not know cabs in KL are head chopping kind.. also stupid me didnt even know where is Duta Station then.

I do not need to take my bike to Sungai Long so that I can tumpang my sister's car back to hometown.

I do not need to pester my sister to tell me how many days of leave I need to take cos she is the one planning the drive back home.

However, for the 1st time in my life I am here in KL celebrating CNY and I'm pretty worry that I'll be too free and mudding wont take up so many days of my hols. So I need to stock up for DVDs/VCDs/books for this CNY so I wont be bored. AND NO... I DONT NOT WISH TO WORK OVER THE CNY (though I could clear some stuff... no.. scratch that thought)

I dare not touch the naruto anime so that I got more things to watch... hmm... and i'm going to ransack Piggy's house for more comics or books :D
Anyone got more books or movie or anime to loan me? ;)

My Life As an Underwriter

Got this job as my first offer,
Quickly grasp, others didn't even consider,
"Yes! I'll take it. No need differ,
By the way, what is an underwriter?"

I asked around hoping for answers,
Some told me it is the same as undertakers,
Some asked if I need to write under the table,
"Sure it is not illegal??"

"I think it is not, I hope it is not,
I heard this job is hot,
Went in, have to learn until brain clot,
Only thing they didn't ask me to do is to hop.

Learn about risk management,
Also health assessment, and spiritual discernment,
Also lie detector just by what the clients declare,
"Decline the case!" when lying clients dare.

I didn't know I have to be part doctor, part detective,
I didn't know I have to be part psychic, part artist,
I didn't know I have to be part lawyer, part persuasive,
I didn't know I have to be very very creative.

Who told me underwriters are boring?
Who laughed at me when late in office I'm staying?
Now who is amazed at me at this vast knowledge I'm learning?
Who is at awe at this large oppurtunity I'm having?

"Underwriters are boring!"
Hah! That's what you are thinking,
With this policies that I'm reading,
Money to me you will be paying!

2 MB

This is a love-hate story with my company's email address. One fine day...

Boss: Export these cases and email it to A in Singapore. Remember to zip it yah.

Nite: Ok ok

*Me finished exporting 4 cases each for 4 different topics - Diabetes, Respiratory Disorder, Renal Disorder, Thyroid Disorder. Zip all the cases and preparing to send out the email.*

1st attempt: Send out all 16 zip cases together
Immediately I received the email - "The email you've sent out has exceeded the quota limit and has been quarantined. Kindly inform blah blah (I dont remember) should you think it should be allowed."
Lesson #1: You dont email the blah blah person and it might take you whole day before it is resolved. Also it might have to go through all sorts of red tape that you might just forget it

2nd attempt: Send out 4 cases of Respiratory disorder which file size is smaller as lesser documents.
Received another email - "The email you've sent out has exceeded the quota of 2 MB limit and has been quarantined. Kindly inform blah blah (I dont remember) should you think it should be allowed."
Lesson #2: Ah.. so the max limit for external mail is 2 MB. Ok ok

*Fish out calculator and starts calculating the file size*

Colleague: What are you doing?

Nite: I'm counting the size of the file I'm going to send out. Apparently max size allowed is 2 MB

3rd attempt: Send out 3 cases of Respiratory disorder with total size of 1.98 MB.
Received yet another email - "The email you've sent out has exceeded the quota of 2 MB limit and has been quarantined. Kindly inform blah blah (I dont remember) should you think it should be allowed.

Nite: Eh.. they still block me!! It was less than 2 MB. Only 1.98 MB

Collegue: Maybe 1.98 MB is too near to 2 MB. They round up the thing.

Nite: -_-"

*Take calculator and count again*

4th attempt: Send out 2 cases of Respiratory disorder with total size of 1.68 MB.
No email received.

Nite: Oh..cool..finally can send already.
*Happily started counting the file size for the remaining cases and email out*

After half an hour, I received 3 emails on exceeding limit quota. What? I dont even remember which ones exceeded the limit and which ones really gone through. So.. I gave up, copied all the files back home and email through yahoo mail, attaching with the files, I had to apologize for flooding the person's email and telling her to disregard whatever that I've send.

Wallet or Purse?

My long time sort of wallet (yah.. it should be purse) spoilt the 1st time I went to Singapore on business trip. Actually the zipper was spoilt and I couldn't put any coins since then. So I resolved to bringing a small plastic bag separately. So that day I went out to buy myself another one... then went out with Piggy & Di Di the next day.

*Take out purse from back pocket*

Piggy: Ei, that is a wallet, man's wallet.. not purse

Nite: But I got it from the ladies section in JJ

Piggy: It looks like a wallet instead of purse to me

Piggy: *Looking at Di Di* What do you think? Look like men's wallet right?

Di Di is eating and hardly talk a lot, just nod his head

Nite: But.. but.. the whole floor of it is ladies section..

Piggy: Then it must be few men's wallet around in ladies section so that when the boyfriend keep the girlfriend shopping, and got things to buy

Nite: Har...

Piggy: Either that, its for the ladies who pai seh to go to the men section to buy stuff for the husband or boyfriend

Nite: -_-"

After note: Actually when I bought it, I was thinking the same thing... that it appears to be like men's wallet instead of ladies purse. Here's for you to judge...

Happy New Year

Yet another post on the new year... and this is the 200th post for this blog... and on the 1st day of a brand new year too. :)

Well, just a short one... going to post up this sms that I received today, a pretty good one too.

"Like birds, let us leave behind what we don't need to carry --
- Grudges
- Sadness
- Pain
- Fear
and Regrets

Fly light

Life is beautiful!
Happy New Year 2006!"

Unfair

There is this village where day shines. Let's call it village Tok Shu. The villagers who were staying in the place are farmers. They plant paddy and fruits. This time of the year, the villagers are all very very busy to finished up the harvest before the cold winter come and destroy the hardwork that they had been toiling throughout the year. As day looked onto the village, day tried to help out by calling the clouds to cover the sun so that the heat will not beat the backs of the farmers. Or day will call the wind to help them as they beat the paddy to get the grains. Day felt happy doing all these things that can help the farmers complete their work.

When darkness comes, nite will come and help too. Nite will call the moon to shine more brightly than usual to guide the farmers as they pluck the fruits from their plantation. Nite also helped to put in more stars in the sky so that the farmers were able to rest well at night for the next day's work.

There is this head villager that seemed to be respected by every farmers. There was one day, the head villager announced to the whole village that he will invite all the villagers for dinner and that he will give away a tractors and a few of his prized bulls. The farmers were really happy. "Two more days to go, my friends, do your best to complete the harvest and then we can have a feast thereafter." Day smiled as day saw the villagers cheered and motivated to complete what seemed to be a mountain within the next two days.

In the village, there are some villagers that don't do farming. They rear chickens and ducks. That is the their work. Though they didn't work during this harvest, they wanted to participate onto the prize that the head villager is giving out. Day shoke head, "How can these people qualify for the prizes that the head villager is offering? They didn't work as hard as the farmers. Funny people." But day knew that the head villager loves his people. He would allow all of them to have a prizes. Yet day felt bad for the farmers who toil all year and even more so this harvest.

"There will be a huge feast at the last day of the harvest. Good wine and food will be given out. These prizes will be drawn and the winners will get the tractors and the other prizes. But these will be for the farmers who worked hard these period." the head villager told the people one day. "But that is not fair sir. We didn't know that there are such prizes given out. If there is, we will help out. We will. This is so UNFAIR!"

The head villager thought long and hard. What to do?. Day felt sad for him. At long last the head villager told the people, "Alright. These prizes will be eligible for everyone provided that they help out these last two days of the harvest."

"But that is not fair either", day thought. "but what can i do?....ah ha! I know what do now.....hehehe.." And so day begin to plan..... :p

Pedu

After staying in Alor Star for more than 20 years, i have never set my foot in Pedu Lake, the famous, beautiful lake situated in Kedah itself, about 20 km from the capital of Kedah. Late yesterday night, my sister spontaneously announced that we are going to Pedu Lake and leave for KL the next day straight from there. After hearing how beautiful the lake is for so long, i finally get to see it with my own eyes. I dont have picture evidence of the picturesque scenary as i did not bring home charger for my digital camera. All i have is measley picture taken using my hand phone.

I shall not go into details how what time i left house, how long it takes, how many winding road we passed... but anyway, we reached our destination with full bladder. Thus, the first restroom we saw, we were all so happy, and make our way towards it. The toilet surprisingly dry but alas, it is soooo smelly, cant really identified what kind of smell but there were loads of tiny, black "beads" on the floor. And no, i dont major in animal's dropping, thus cannot identify the source of the droppings.

Despite the shortcomings, we checked in the room and found spider on the wall near the bed. Je je's bf called the front desk and they send someone to help us clean it up. However, one sweep with the broom, 2 black lizards came out of nowhere and what was worse was the cleaning guy put the broom on the bed!! Housekeeping? If i ever do that at home, i think i would have to endure endless long nagging and lecture by my mother. In fact, i doubt that she would actually let me live and forget about the whole incident.

After quite a few phone calls to the front desk on that and also the not cooling air cond, and numerous promise that "i'll be right back." (which they never did, till we rang up again, then only they came back). They finally agree to change the bedsheet, only manage to fix the air cond to be really airing the room after 4 separate calls and visits by different person. Before that even the outside air is cooler than the room. All of us was sweating inside the room.

Well, in fact, i'm typing this inside the chalet at Lake Pedu, after a buffet dinner which only offers limited variety of food but it beats having nothing. And by the way, we had a great 50% discount as compensation on the poor service and accommodation. Anyway, till then, and yes, if you are wondering, there is no mobile phone reception here, and that would give u a good guess that i still dont have internet connection, thus no MUD, and explain the time for this blog post. ;)

A Moment of Silence

Just a short post...
... to offer condolences to our Prime Minister upon the demise of our First Lady at 7.55am on Thursday

Beware, Nite is at it again....

You want to know why nite doesn't blog anymore nowadays? Let me tell you. It is not because she is lazy. It is not because she has blogger's block. It is not because she is pak tohing....maybe it is, not sure...have to go pester her again. :p Anyway, it is something pretty nasty. She was infected of this dreadful infectious disease named Mudagitis. Where you go Mudding all day long. What was it about? I am not sure, but she is begining to infect me. Sigh....so far there are 4 ppl who had this disease. Piggy, Super Chu Chai, Nite, and another friend of ours. I even heard that Verb might be infected by this disease as well....

So here is a warning note....should you ever heard of the word mud, be afraid...be very very afraid. Cause it will change your life 180 degrees. my my...even your speach wil change because of this Mudagitis.....

You are wondering if I am infected by this? What do you think? ;p

It has been 15 days...

I wonder if this is the longest i have not post here. 15 days, think even when i wanted to take hiatus, it wasn't this long.

I was around, in fact glued to the pc every single day loyally. Just that i didnt get around to write something. Well, now i understand why a certain chu chai didnt blog so often, even have vague memory of pestering him to blog :p Well, lucky he didnt pester me to blog anyway...

This is just another excuse for me to look at the notes lying on the sofa and not picking it up... at least when people do ask, i can honestly answer, "i didnt mud the whole day. I blog too" :p

Anyway, i have better go feed myself. Dont even know where the instant noodles that i took just now gone. I didnt know sitting in front of pc playing games can take up so much energy.

Till then, everybody, you are welcome to pester day to blog. *whisper - she blogs even lesser than me*

Are you a morning person?

I have long forgotten about that as no one talks to me in the morning for probably 5 years, after i left home. Of course when i was home, i had to reply to whatever my mother asked, regardless if i want to talk or not. Otherwise, there is more to listen to. Yes, there comes the lecture.

But, its coming back to haunt me, again. A few weeks ago, my mother came over and stayed for a week plus, and yes, she talked to me early in the morning. Oh, i dont know why, but i just dread to talk early in the morning. Its not that i got bad breath or something cos already brushed my teeth, even brushed my tongue, but i just dont like to talk right after i wake up in the morning. Slightly after that is ok. So, thats why i'm called nite lar yah...

I'm just not a morning person.

Please be at my workstation :(

i'm stressed. I cant find my thumb drive anywhere in my bag.

*think think*

i can't remember if i took it back home with me, all i remember is that if i put it in my bag, i didnt take it out anywhere except at home. So, if i cant find it at home, please, please, please, be in my workstation. :(

if i lost it, i think i would be better off knocking my head on the wall. Or probably jump into a longkang. :(

Minor Revamp

As the title fully describe it. Try to revamp a little of dayNnite as it was with the exact same colour ever since we started it, and to think of it, it has been more than a year already.

So, tried adding some pictures. As for the colours, remain dark colour though i would have want to opt for a lighter tone cos was with the same blue for ages. However bearing in mind that there are quite a number of posts that we make it more noticable by adding pastel colour, at the moment is rather lazy to edit each and every of those posts. So, will only edit it when i have more time :)

The more alike one

From this post - I've found it ;) i have found another version of the prawn sweets and it look more similar to the ones i remembered. Actually it was a while since i took the pictures, even the sweets are finished, but i honestly confessed that i am a little lazy. Ok, ok, rather lazy.

Anyway, back to the sweet. Funnily, the new packing one is more similar to the taste, more peanut taste as compared to this one.

Why is English so hard to learn?

This is another of the forwarded mails that i think is interesting and pretty true :)

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce.
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present
8) I did not object to the object.
9) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
10) They were too close to the door to close it.
11) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
12) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
13) I shed my clothes in the shed.

Let's face it - English is a ridiculous language.

There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in a hamburger; neither apple
nor pine in a pineapple.

English muffins weren't invented in England, nor French fries in France.

Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.

We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that bakers bake, but grocers don't groce?

If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of Booth - beeth?
One goose, 2 geese...So one moose, 2 meese?
One index, 2 indices?
If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?

We ship by truck and send cargo by ship?
Have noses that run and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which
Your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects
The creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all).
That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

And finally, how about when you want to shut down your computer you have to hit "START".

Time of death certified at 10.28 am

Ok, i lied. Not exactly, just not telling the whole truth. It really has died, on national day, just that i am not too sure of the exact deceased time. But it is somewhere around 10.30 am, at least for mine. Apparently my colleague said that it was terminated in groups, phase by phase.

Well anyway, we are official off it, the good stuff. Cut off all means of communication, and left with this weird thing that keeps on invite people to join strangers conversation.
Anyway, speaking of this thing, it can really make me complain & complain... So i shall spare you all the misery (at least for now, i'll probably blog another one just for complaining that thing)

So, for now, i officially inform everybody that we are all off the internet instant messenger. If you want to bug, kacau, say hi, miss us, do drop us an email. :)

(Note: given up hope that it will be resuscitated. Have uninstall it)

Stray

The night is cold. I'm limping off to find a warm place to call for the night. With the wind blowing, i shiver up to my litte bones. Scratching myself with my good left hind leg, i walked nearing to the car parked by the roadside pavement (chu chai commented that he cannot picture how the broom come flying when there is no witch around). The engine generated some heat, hopefully would warm me up a little.

"Go away! Shoo!" the owner shooed me and start poking with a broom. I gave a small yelp and limped away. What was on my mind then? Why on earth would i leave him? He was the one picking me up when i lost in that fight 3 yrs ago, injuring my leg. But, that was history. He no longer cares for me, ever since she came. I hate to admit it, that little thing is rather pretty. But it still cuts me, knowing that i longer is the priority in his life.

To be continue...

Addition: Have seeked professional help & outsourced it to super chu chai. Here is the link to the 2nd part of the story.

Alanna

Nice name? What is the first thing comes to your mind? Sophisticated, gentle, sweet, pretty girl? Hehe.. i dont know. I seriously dont know. I picked up the name from a book that i read ages ago in my hometown public library. No pictures at all. Only words :p

Setting of the story was during the knight era. This Alanna inspires to be a knight but of course at the time, females are only allowed to knit, and all those very prim and proper things. On the other hand, her bro Thom was to be send to train to become a knight, yet he doesnt has the "thing" of becoming one. Instead opt to be a wizard. So they tried to kind of come up with a plan where Alanna could undergo the necessary training to be a knight and Thom wizardry.

There, Alanna disguised herself with the name Alan. (not bad eh). anyway, its really kind of entertaining book. But of course, sad to say, the public library did not have the full set of it. Only 2 books, and it was kind of hanging half way. But i have never come across the book in anywhere.

So, i was really surprise when i saw the book in MPH the other day. The best thing was, if i am to buy 2 books, i get another book free. There is 4 books all together - so buying 4 books and get 2 free. Or in another words, i only need to buy 2 books, i get the 3rd book free. At the most, i buy another 1 or 2 more and get another free (huh? what was i saying?)

erm, lets try it this way
  • Buy Book 1+ Book 2 -- get Book 3
  • Buy Book 4 + another book (a) -- get another book (b)

Now you understand what i'm trying to say? And anyway, my hometown friend was with me then and she read the book too but only manage to find Book 1. I'm a bit luckier, read book 1 & 2. So we could actually share (so everybody happy)

Ahhh... but it was not to be. Imagine the dismay when we found out that...

  • Buy Book 1 + Book 2 -- get a book from the Charmed series free
  • Buy Book 3 + Book 4 -- probably get the SAME Charmed series free

So... in the end didnt buy lor. Its not that i have anything against Charmed. Its just... a wee bit disappointing... hmm... wait till i have more $$ to splash around. In the meantime, pls keep me away from MPH (just in case, i cannot stand the temptation) :p

Emporer's Clothes

Disclaimer this post is purely for entertainment purposes. It is not meant to insult or belittle anyone in anyway. Any names or references which might seemed familiar is purely by chance.

I never thought such stories would come alive. Yet it was fun that in times like this where children believes that trendy fashions and mindless jokes are 'in' and adults don't believe in Santa Claus or angels, such stories could actually embarked itselves in our lifes.

Once a upon a time, not too long ago, there was one director who were put incharge of the York Marketing team in Netherland Research Company. He was a kind man. And his subordinates were a bunch of hardworking, introverts who seemed to want to please the CEO of the company more. The director would once in a while have a conference meeting with the rest of the directors to discuss on how the company could run its researches in a more creative and effective way. At times the CEO himself would attend the meeting and motivates anyone who attends that meeting.

Yet it was a funny thing that could honestly happen to any director who can't seem to expressed himself well among his subordinates. Still he is confident that his subordinates will be able to ride on the motto which the CEO himself put forth. Time and time again, the director would have small discussions with his subordinates to inform how a project should be running and so forth. Sometimes his people would be able to catch his words. Sometimes not. Most often times not, well, at least in this story it is not.

His subordinates were one highly self-discussed group of people. One would be fortunate to have such high thinkers who evaluates and analysed a project and would be able to form a proper step by step procedure to obtain the best possible results on that particular research. One of the hidden problem that might result in such group of people were there would be multiple excellent procedures towards one research that there would not be a proper measurable result that may come out from it. Yet being introvert as they are, at times they would keep it to themselves and put up a brave face saying that everything is a OK, eventhough its basic formula may be crumbling apart.

Such petty things would not be expressed to the director himself because he would be handling too many things. Being ambitious as he is, the director himselves hold one too many portfolios in the department. With things on top of his head, his subordinates would just tell him that everything is OK whenever he holds a small review over the project. There might be times where one or two of his subordinates would bring up some issues, yet they would be 'tamed' down for not being on the same objectives as the rest of them or the director himself.

There was once project however that the director placed before his subordinates. He handed down a memo to his subordinates to complete the procedure, management planning and expected results without proper briefing to what it is all about. How would a research be done without clear guidelines and tools? One would be too timid to even ask what the objective was for. But knowing past happenings, the subordinates would want to just leave it under the table. The director himself must have felt pretty good about the whole thing because in his mind something was going to happen, some mighty results from that research may change the world. Thus when the memo was put up on the research board, his other subordinates would nod and agree and confidently ask when that project needed to be hand over to the client and assure that client would be outmost satisfied over the end product.

Sheepishly and quite embarrased for being imbecile of any kind, one subordinate just do not understand what was happening. Quietly that she asked the director - "What in the world are you talking about?" The director was pretty pissed off with such behaviour. Yet being a nice man as he wanted to be, calmly and with a controlled voice, he explained the principles and the reason behind the whole project, as well as what the client is expecting. "It will be a world changing experiment if we are to be able to carry this out with excellence" Nodding mindlessly, she backed out from his room, heart trembling and still unsure of what to do. "Would the rest know what to do? Oh my, they were doing it individually. Now how am I to come up with the plan?"

There was one subordinate however speaks his mind whenever there was a need. Not abashed at anything, he voiced out, asking loud and clear, "Mr Director, what exactly is this project for? What is the objective to this research?" Shocked, she marvelled at his courage. Speaking and questioning directly to the director to her naive mind is a no-no. Yet here comes one who speaks. To her amazement, before the director himself could even address him, one by one his other subordinates raised their hands and confessed that they too do not understand what the director have in mind.

.....and we all know the ending of the story.

Things We (Can) Do To Get A Day Off

Well, as all know, its another new day, the sky is hazy, the sun cannot be seen, somehow - where's the birds yah? Anyway, when the haze API hits > 500, its consider emergency and all of we will be ask to stay indoor... Thus, one of the favourite past times is to look out of your window and guess - is it 500 yet. I know it sounded real mean when the haze is so bad but cant blame people when its hazy and you need to travel to work. Especially when your housemate need not to work cos company close for the day...

Well, there are a few things that you can consider doing to get a day off... of course... no guarantees that you wont have higher authorities coming after you...

  1. Keep on chanting - 500, 500, 500, 500
(got a friend who won himself a DVD player (or was it a HP) after keep on chanting his own name in a lucky draw)
  2. Change all your YM message status to API > 500 as well
  3. Get your COUGHING colleague to call up HR and ask if we are going to have a day off
  4. Try to burn some more things (but i heard this is subject to you have excess RM 5k to spent)
  5. Eat more satay, ikan bakar... (wonder if it will work)

Anyone wants to try?? ;)

It's a bird,it's a plane...

It's... i cant see. Reason? If you are here, in Malaysia. Then you will know what i mean. Look outside your window. Can you see anything? What happen to the tall & "lanky" KLCC?? Disappear? David Copperfield at work? Nay, no such thing. Just that our neighbour is have some burning going on and we are just sharing the not-as-nice-as-BBQ-smoke air.

Anyway, its just another day. Where people always say if its a bad day, just take a deep breath, take a look at the beautiful flowers along the way, instead it is now - DO NOT take a deep breath (for your health sake) and flowers? Cant see - too hazy.

Well, i came with my motorbike today. Initially i can see the KLCC on my way via Sungai Besi. A few days ago - can see half of it but today - no at all. Like a piece of flat land. Unlike other days, i could feel my eyes itchy and a littly teary. (Nope, there is nothing nostalgic, so i'm was not crying)

Believe me? No? Well, at the end of day - go out of whatever building you are in. Inhale as much as you can, see if you can smell of the smoke, and who knows, you might get a day or two of MC. No proof guarantee though... :þ

snow blizzard - NOT!!

I looked out of the window this morning. I can see cars. And the sky. During lunch time I looked out of the window again. I can't see anything. Worse of all, I can't see KLCC. And my place has such a beautiful view of it. To think if this is winter, I would be so happy. But no...it is hot and stuffy and irritating.
Worse there isn't any declaration of leave by the government. Perhaps they are too cooked up in the office that they didn't realise how bad it is. Stay stay at home. Even Dr Liew wants to declared emergency leave!!!

A Quick & Dirty IQ Test???

I dont really understand the title of the test, quick and IQ i can get it but dirty? Hmmm... *ponder ponder* where's the dirty part? Honestly i do have this "thing" on quizzes, haha, just like to complete them, erm... must be my curiosity. People say curiosity kills a cat, wonder if it does work.

Ok ok, i dont want to make myself against any cat lovers or what but i do have some grudges with cats.
  1. A cat causes me most scars on my body, including the keloid (A red, raised formation of fibrous scar tissue caused by excessive tissue repair in response to trauma or surgical incision) on my right knee
  2. I was being chased up & down, in & out, everywhere by this cat during camping years ago as the egg i pocketed crushed and stained my pants and that was the last pair of pants i had. (and yes, it was dreadful & digusting as it also generated out some foul smell)
  3. I had experienced of being stalked by a small kitten, following my friend and me everywhere. I have no idea as to why both of us were afraid of the kitten but yah, in a way, i was scared. :þ
  4. My alleged ex-bf was nickname "cat". Some similarity with his name... hahah.. nay, if you are thinking if i'm still sore over that.. nope... nil, zilch...

Back to the quiz, i am glad that my maths still sticks to me, after all these years. And i solemnly confess - i even the calculator for 1+1 calculation. haha...

Do I look like....?

Had a fantastic endorphin rush this morning when super chu chai query me.....still am laughing.....
Do I look like I'm in love? How does a person who is in love look like?
What do you think?

Breakfast is meant to be skipped if cannot wake up :þ

This post is a day late. Reason being i spent most time of the day SLEEPING.
The story begins like this...

I slept at 3.30 am on Sunday and anticipating that i can sleep in on Sunday. The day before which is Saturday, Dino & Piggy already ajak me out to eat dim sum at Pearl Hotel. I was not thrilled to go cos ...

  1. I am totally broke and overbudget for July (sigh...)
  2. I want to sleep and sleep and sleep

Happily logged off my pc at 3.30 am that day and shut my handphone. Unfortunately, ages ago i emailed them my house phone number and you know what? Piggy rang my house phone NON-STOP, successfully waking me up and drag me out for dim sum (Read: Verb, dont you dare laugh or i shall wake u up in the middle of the night :þ)

Knowing the fact that Piggy & Dino would probably call again if i go back to sleep. I was so good and dragged myself to the bathroom, even wash my hair to kill the sleepy look. No sleepy look but still drown in Dreamland, i changed my clothes and only realise i forgot to brush my teeth. Anyway, make my way to destination.

Half way eating, suddenly feel like dropping by Popular Bookstore and checked my wallet. Oh NO... not there!! Did i drop it on the floor? *Squat down & look look* (Piggy said the way i squat got ala ninja in Naruto :þ) No?? Argghh.. I dont want to experience the agony of going to few police stations to lodge report again. D*rn!! Funnily my hp still in pocket and rang my sister, she confirmed wallet at home... phew!

Happily finishing dim sum with sleepy eyes and safely reached home and sleep all the way till 7.30 pm. That explains as to why didnt blog this up earlier :)

Erm.. wanted to blog up some pictures but i forgot where Dino load it... still sleepy.. hahaha...

I've found it ;)

I've found it! After looking high and low, shops after shops, supermarket after supermarket, and i found it, practically like "behind my own backyard".

I've been to Extra, Carrefour, Watson, JJ and endless chinese herb shops (they usually sell grocery as well), also Verb and Piggy has been so nice as to upkeep with my craziness. Practically its like i've been looking for it at every possible shop. BUT, there is anywhere. I have it figured out, if i really cannot find it... i guess i can more likely find it at my hometown in A/S. ;)
I'll have to go home sometime.

Just now, Piggy coming over to my place and decided to stop by this big mini market (am i making sense? its a mini market but big kind) to grab something. And as usual, i would just casually tell her - i want to look for it and guess what? I found it! I found it! and it's somewhere near my house, ironic how things turn out to be yah?

Well, here it is... feast your eyes on... lobster crisp...hehehe

Tribute to a Plunger

Whoever come out with the invention of plunger - applause. *Clap clap*
I am trying to the inventor or creator his/her credit. I actually go surf a bit to find out who actually come out with it. And yes, i am not so hebat as would know this thing is actually call a plunger. I would have call it toilet pump or something like that...

Anyway, due to some plumbing error at the place i stay, this plunger thingy is becoming so important. Once in a while, a rather frequent while that the toilet would get clogged up. I had just spent quite awhile to pump/unclogged it... Still it is only very temporary and i noted that its has yet fully un-clogged. So i shall be very, very, very grateful if some plumber able to fix it, i would not hesistate to tribute a blog to the plumber as well :D

Btw, if you cannot get this post and dont know what a plunger is, just google up - plunger+image.. and you will get the image ;)

Human Nature

Disclaimer 1: Ini hanyalah rekaan semata-mata, tiada berkaitan dengan hidup atau mati. Jika ada, ia hanyalah kebetulan sahaja.

Disclaimer 2: It is advisable to note that I have practice "Dont let the sun sets upon your anger" and that i had had a very good Thai food before this.

*Take a deep breath...*
... Some things happen last few days, things that i am not thrilled over. In fact, it had made me realise, no matter what it is, it is just what we call human nature. Yet, it is disheartening to see that people whom all the while you have the best compliments for, would also have a side that you dont exactly appreciate.

Of course, perhaps i was not tactful enough. After all, i was the one sent & compulsory to attend some Building Championship Team training. In the training, we were thought on how to give effective feedback, in order to avoid negative response. Funnily this training actually got me into thinking - which is pretty true that it is kind of a subconsciousness reaction that if you think someone accuses you, you would turn defensive. If you think someone is correcting you with your best interest in mind, then by all means, i wouldnt think anyone would be less grateful.

... i have no idea how this post took its course to there and i somehow unable to put a finishing touch to it... so, shall left it hanging...

Note: To follow suit from Piggy, no comment is allowed for this post.

Just because....

Sometimes I wonder why people have the perception that is just isn't the real thing.
I'm working with a bunch of Sanguine people. When there is no work, we talk and laugh and joke. When there is work, we talk and laugh and joke. When there is alot of work, we talk and laugh and joke and blog! :p

Yet somehow because we talk and laugh and joke. People tend to think that we are not doing any work. They seem to think that so long we are doing something else apart from what they are doing, we just goyang kaki and wait for pay issit?? Dead wrong....

The management told us how to make some dead place alive by watching this motivation programme called fish. Just because some of us are naturally able to handle stress better than they, change stressful job into something pretty enjoyable, it doesn't mean that we are not doing anything. sigh...

So I think they are just plain jealous that we handle stress better than they do. And because of this, they often come over and instruct to do this this this. Darn! So to them I so so wanted to say... na na na na na.....give me half of your pay then I do.... :D

Then again, we are to be of a team and diplomatic. So what to do, have to bite lip and smile, explain..."Are you going to help me do my job if I agree to help you do yours?" Works wonders! haha...

Backlog

I'm out of service standard!!! Erm, not that i give myself a service level to keep track... but in a way, i'm having some books & VCDs have yet watched. Its nice in a way that I have things to do finally, thanks to everybody who contributes as i remember lamenting, no books, no VCDs and nowhere to go...

My pending tasks are:-

Books

  1. Soul Harvest by Tim Lahaye & Jerry B. Jenkins -- the 4th book of a series, the Left Behind, Tribulation Force and Nicolae (I left it in the office.. for a few days...)
  2. Savage, Ascension and Beginnings by Kelly Armstrong -- highly recommended by Piggy & Chu Chai (i have yet read as Piggy said must only read during weekends as i'll be hooked and this weekend had to work and some things to do. Still dare not touch... )
  3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -- have to admit that i'm not that enthusiatic about this release as begin to think that it is a little too long already and that the first few books seems like a better read. Also, perhaps of the long story, there are a few things that seems contradicting in a way. Yet, since I have the past few books and was said that HP would be in school for 7 days, so shouldnt be a lot more to go. Besides, i can deduct for income tax ;)
  4. 魔帝-- i think there is 10 books of the comic. Have not started on it yet.. so wont be addicted yet :)

VCDs/and the likes

  1. A step into the past (Cantonease - as "Cham Chun Kei") -- there are 40 episodes of it. I dont exactly remember at which episode i stopped but due to some error which i cannot identified, i can play it using the DVD player, only can use PC to watch. Jie Jie works very hard which includes weekends, so a little hard to watch
  2. Naruto anime -- this one i foresee will finish watching faster as i'm having withdrawal symptoms of waiting for the next episode of the hard copy manga :)

So there, i shall categorized priority for the pending tasks and hope to clear the backlog soon :þ

How does MSN messenger work?

How does it work? MSN messenger, not the web version. Something make me ponder. A friend of jie jie (my sister) can see her ID online when i was online and when he sent messages via jie jie's ID, i received those messages (its intended for me cos he knew jie jie not in town over the weekend). But, the funny thing is, i didnt even sign in! How do this happen?

I register for MSN messenger using yahoo email. He reasoned that when i signed in my yahoo messenger, it is connected as well. What? I signed in yahoo using my own ID, but he saw jie jie online in MSN???? Whats the connection?

I thought i got things mixed up, probably signed in already or he is sending offline msg... but how? Even just now, he send messages right after i on pc, meaning he can see right? But, but.. i din even signed in anything? And the thing actually shows "MSN Messenger - Not Signed In". Then.. what happenned?

Well, calling all kind soul out there, can please explain the so-call phenomenon to me - the IT idiot and dont kill me if i go "huh?" yah.. :p
Otherwise, i think i shall uninstall the MSN Messenger....

Washing Day

I dont remember exactly when i last wash my bike. Ok.. you are allowed to open your mouth wide big... but due to certain inconvenient, i have sort of given up to wash it... and yes, you are allowed to scold me (should you be near me). Seriously, give it a thought, dont you think staying in non landed house makes it kind of hard to wash my bike. Of course, i have never seen people sending motorbike for washing, at least not in KL (had vague memory that my friend paid someone to wash it in Alor Star previously).

My mother used to nag me and commented that in the whole stretch of bikes parked, my bike is the dirtiest. Well, please dont misunderstood me, i certainly dont enjoy the "compliment". But at that time, i really didnt think it is that dirty. But that was ages ago, nowadays my mother never nags at me not washing my bike, simply because she has not seen it. :D

Anyway, somehow, out of the blue, I suddenly noticed that my bike is rather dirty. Ok, just imagine a very lazy me found out that my bike is dirty. Probably one of the factor i never realised was that i see my bike from side or from the back, which does not appear so bad. I dont remember why i look at it from the front view.. and there... i noted of the dirtiness... Well, since i also cannot tahan already, asked for a huge favour from Piggy and Froggy, told them that i need to wash my bike at their house. (Note: I'm staying at a apartment and cannot ride my bike in, no motorbike parking and some lame, long reason which i shall not elaborate now). Piggy then also told me that she imagine my bike was dirty... hmmm... so it is time for bike bathing.

To keep the story short, i made an appointment with Piggy & Froggy to wash my bike at their house just now and it is now - i proudly announce CLEAN and i certainly hope that it shall stay clean for a very, very long time...

Here is the before & after picture... ;)

Upgrade Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0

Got this forwarded mail for quite a few times but couldn't help amaze with the writer's creativity each time. So decided to post this up. Its fun reading that applying currently IT life to this piece of writing :)

Dear IT Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications that had operated flawlessly
under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Persona Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable programs such as Formula One 5.0, NBA 3.0 and World Cup 2.0.

And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and House Cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate

=================================

Reply:

Dear Desperate,

First keep in mind: Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment
package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Try entering the command C:\ I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and download Tears 6.2 to install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Late Night Teh Tarik 6.1. Late Night 6.1 is a very bad program that will create SnoringLoudly.wav files.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-Law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly.

You might consider additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 6.9.

Good Luck,

IT Support

Ring.. ring... toot toot... toot toot...

A small incident prompts me to post this entry. I found out that there a few ways people do to avoid certain calls. Having an internet access means that i have a phone line at home. But there are hardly anybody who calls this fixed line. Reason being that:

  1. I hardly give anybody this number as we try to confine it to internet usage cos later might be hardly to split the bill (though actually we are not charge to receiving call... i must be out of my mind)

  2. i know that there is only 2 person who rings this phone - my mother and my sister's bf. So i have the liberty of not answering phone calls. Yes, i have the patience of letting it ring and ring and ring and ring.

However, I notice that my sis and housemate also have this habit of letting their handphones ring (not a problem to me cos hardly anyone calls me). And i found that there are a few ways to do so and in a erm.. polite way ;)

  1. Assign a nice melody/song to the certain person
You know why? Nobody would kacau or bug you to answer the phone if the song is nice or the melody is good and you, yourself wouldn't mind if it rings :) (smart eh)

  2. Use Nokia phone (i'm not advertising nor am i using it)
But... noted that there is this feature in Nokia phones that when the phone rings, it gives option of "answer" and "silent". The function of this "silent" key is when you press it, it stops ringing but the person on the line actually hears the normal "toot toot... toot toot..." as if waiting for you to pick up the phone... (not bad leh)

  3. Have great patience
This - be it house phone or handphone. Just let it ring. Don't bother. (I have that cos that day my mother rang the house phone, i didn't that it would be her... i let it ring for rather long but a bit pai seh already cos my housemate at home and dont want to disturb her, then only i picked it up. My mother thought I was already asleep, thus took so long to answer the phone ;)

So, there be it. But do it at your own risk. I'm not teaching you to neglect those phone calls, it's just something i happened to find out. :)

LRT

Went to work today with the famous LRT. Found something rather funny about the ride.

The LRT is supposedly to be fully air conditioned. But it doesn't appear so at times. Whenever there are alot of people riding in the LRT, the air-cond seemed to be off, leaving the rest of us passangers sweating like a pig. Mind you some of us need to go to work in the morning, not the gym! I would think those intending to go gym can just go home after riding the LRT. Free sauna. And save up the gym's monthly fees. ANd if you want a full workout, just take the LRT when it is low peak. It seemed like they will blast the air-cond full blast. You can have a free lesson on "shake a bom bom, shake a bom bom dance". Even the bus have this thing call windows to wind down whenever it is hot or wind up whenever it is cold.

What's more when there are multiple women with different perfumes put on them. And you are standing in between. Turn right - one whiff. Turn left - one whiff. Face front - both whiffs combined! WALAUEY!!! Can faint, straightaway take MC. When you go home from work, during the peak hours, packed like sardines. I think this is even whose than going on a bus. With the temperature rising, you can even hatch an egg. Hmm...I think even the chicks refuse to come out.

Sigh....and to think I'll be riding on the LRT later today.

The Mystery of the Missing Socks

I bought 3 pairs of socks end, end of April 2005. Remembered it well as I ran out of socks and since would probably need to walk a lot in my trip to Taiwan, so bought those 3 for RM 10 socks - blue, grey & brown ones.
All 3 socks were brought to Taiwan and exported back to M'sia, safe and sound. But, disappearing act strikes on those socks thereafter. The thing is like this...

1st week after trip - grey color socks disappear
-- I thought that probably my sis wore it and havent wash it...

2nd week after trip
-- we do laundry including a pair of socks, the brown one. Found out that only left 1 side after finish laundry. My sis said she counted it before bringing it up (we use the public washing machine and mind you, washing machine is one of the greatest invention of all time). I am equally sure that i make sure all socks are pegged and wont be blown off by the wind. Anyhow, so left the blue one (cos didnt wash) and 1 side of the brown one. The grey one still nowhere to be seen.

2nd week after trip - a few hours later
-- bought 3 pairs of socks, the blue one complete, the grey one missing and the brown one incomplete. Since only left one pair, so i told my sis and we went digging around the house. Finally found the grey ones in the bathroom. Ok, so now only lost one side of the brown socks

3rd week after trip
-- since found the grey socks already. Put the grey and blue socks to laundry. This time my mother went down with me. Positively sure all 4 socks were in the machine but during collecting time, I only collected 1 side of each socks but my mother said she got took some. Since so many clothes, we didnt really check it but has looked into the washing machine 3 times to check if we left anything behind.

Funnily, when hang the clothes to dry, found out that...
The blue socks - only left one side

I bought 3 pairs of socks, now left with 2 pairs but incomplete blue and brown socks. Perhaps I should mix and match next time - wearing the blue one and the brown one ;)
